OLA = life, health, curable, heal, to live, to survive, to thrive

Ola Rehab was founded to address a gap in our community where traditional physical therapy clinics often fall short. We take a holistic approach, addressing the body as a whole and focusing on identifying the root causes of impairments, rather than just treating the symptoms.

After more than a decade of advocating for Hawaii’s people

Both as a therapist and an administrator, Eric recognized the gaps in the healthcare system that often prevent patients from receiving the one-on-one attention they deserve. That’s why Ola Rehab was created—to offer a more personalized, holistic approach to recovery. Our practice focuses on the individual as a whole, addressing not just the injury but the roles people play in their daily lives. Sometimes, that means thinking outside the box—holding therapy sessions outdoors, in the water, at your workplace, or even in your home. Ola Rehab is built around the idea that recovery should be a collaborative journey, where you are a part of the team, and we work together to help you thrive.

At the heart of Ola Rehab is Eric Torres

A licensed physical therapist with over 15 years of experience across both inpatient and outpatient settings on Oahu. Over the years, Eric has had the privilege of working with a diverse range of patients, helping them recover from injuries, manage chronic conditions, and improve overall health. Eric is known for his compassionate communication, active listening, and a patient-centered approach to therapy. He believes that every person’s recovery journey is unique and should be tailored to meet their specific needs—whether that’s in the clinic or out in the world where life happens.

The Healing Process

Our Service

At Ola Rehab, we offer a range of specialized services

To help you regain movement, relieve pain, and improve your quality of life. Every patient is unique, and we pride ourselves on creating customized treatment plans to meet your individual needs.
Prehab is proactive rehabilitation designed to prepare you for surgery or a major event. Surgeons are increasingly recommending Prehab for targeted strengthening and mobility enhancement prior to procedures, which has been shown to improve recovery outcomes. For those with an active lifestyle, Prehab helps reduce the risk of injury, accelerate recovery, and lay the groundwork for success before a big trip, competition, or important life event.
Surgery is a life-changing event, and recovery isn’t always what we expect. There are many factors that can influence the outcome, and sometimes even the surgeon isn’t sure what they’ll encounter once inside. The aftermath can feel long and daunting, but we’re here to guide you through it and explain each step along the way. Our therapist, with 15+ years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, will work with you to set realistic expectations for each stage of recovery and help you get back to what you love.
When pain isn’t properly addressed, it can become chronic (lasting more than 3 months) and start to alter how your body moves. To avoid discomfort, you may begin to compensate—“working around” the pain—which can lead to further strain and impairment. Chronic pain can also elevate cortisol (stress) levels, triggering emotional symptoms like irritability and anxiety. You don’t have to stay stuck in the cycle. Our therapist is skilled at identifying the root cause of pain and has a proven track record of helping patients restore their quality of life.
While physical therapy is often associated with hands-on treatment, most of your healing actually happens outside the clinic. Since you spend only 2-3 hours per week with your therapist, your recovery is shaped largely by what you do (or don’t do) at home or work. That’s why virtual care has become such a powerful tool for improving outcomes and accessibility. Over the past 5 years, we’ve fine-tuned our telehealth services to provide detailed assessments, create effective self-management strategies, and offer guidance—all from the comfort of your home.
Our kupuna have paved the way for us, and it’s an honor to care for them. As we age, conditions like arthritis, stroke, and other multi-system impairments require specialized care. With experience working in skilled nursing facilities and rehab centers, our therapist is equipped to help older adults regain strength, independence, and overall wellness. We involve families in the process, offering support, answering questions, and encouraging active participation. Each session is approached with patience, respect, and a deep commitment to preserving dignity.
Manual therapy involves hands-on techniques that require years of specialized training and practice. Not all therapists are equally skilled—true proficiency takes time, education, and experience. Our therapist has dedicated significant training to mastering these techniques, with a focus on improving mobility, relieving pain, and restoring function. Whether you’re recovering from an injury or managing a chronic condition, manual therapy can play an essential role in your rehabilitation plan.
Falls are a major concern, especially for older adults. Through a comprehensive balance assessment, we identify the underlying causes of imbalance—whether it’s vestibular, musculoskeletal, or neurological. By addressing these issues, we help reduce the risk of falls and injuries, ensuring you stay safe and independent.
Sometimes, getting to the clinic isn’t an option. Other times, a clinical setting simply doesn’t reflect the real-world challenges you’re facing. With mobile physical therapy, we bring care directly to you—whether that’s in your home, workplace, or another natural environment where you move and live your life. If you’re unable to attend in-clinic visits or prefer the convenience of treatment at home, our mobile services offer a comprehensive rehab experience in the environments that matter most.
Your environment plays a major role in your safety, comfort, and long-term health. We provide on-site consultations to identify risks, improve function, and create safer, more supportive spaces—whether at home or work. These assessments focus on injury prevention through ergonomic optimization—from workstation setup to body mechanics, equipment placement, and daily movement patterns. We also offer recommendations for mobility aids, grab bar installation, durable medical equipment, and caregiver training when needed.
Whether you’re a competitive athlete or simply love staying active, injuries can disrupt more than just your routine—they impact performance and confidence. Our sports rehab program is designed to help you recover fully and return to activity with strength, stability, and a reduced risk of reinjury. With an undergraduate focus in Sports Medicine, our therapist combines performance-based therapy with personalized strategies for rehab, movement analysis, and return-to-play readiness. Whether you’re training for an event or rebuilding after a setback, we’ll help you move better, recover smarter, and get back to what you love.
What you eat plays a powerful role in healing, energy, and overall recovery. While physical therapy focuses on movement and function, how you fuel your body can directly impact how well – and how quickly – you respond to treatment. We offer evidence-informed nutrition coaching to support your rehab goals—focusing on areas like inflammation, energy balance, and tissue healing. Whether you’re recovering from surgery, managing chronic pain, or rebuilding strength after injury, small changes in nutrition can enhance your progress and help you feel better throughout the process. Whether you’re a competitive athlete or simply love staying active, injuries can disrupt more than just your routine—they impact performance and confidence.
Children aren’t just small adults—they have unique physical, neurological, and developmental needs that require a specialized approach. Whether your child is recovering from an injury, has a diagnosed condition, or experiences pain with activity, physical therapy can support their movement, coordination, and progress. We design engaging, age-appropriate sessions focused on improving strength, muscle balance, and motor skills—all while keeping therapy fun and goal-oriented. We also work closely with families, offering guidance, education, and home strategies to reinforce progress beyond the clinic.

FAQ

Your Questions, Answered

We’ve answered some of the most common questions to help you feel confident and informed before getting started.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. Athletic wear is ideal. If your treatment involves a specific area (knee, shoulder, back, etc.), clothing that allows access to that area is helpful.

Each session typically lasts 45–60 minutes, allowing plenty of time for one-on-one care, hands-on treatment, and personalized guidance.

We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows may be subject to a fee.

Parking costs vary depending on the location of your appointment. Any parking fees are the responsibility of the patient, and we’re happy to provide guidance ahead of time if needed.

We accept most major insurance plans. Coverage can vary, so we recommend contacting us directly so we can verify your benefits before your first visit.

Copay amounts depend on your specific insurance plan. Once your insurance is verified, we’ll clearly explain your copay or out-of-pocket costs before treatment begins—no surprises.
